Spruce’s September visit
Spruce arrived Monday 2nd September for a few days. Each day we will be walking the local woods and fields around Great Ashby with my X100vi camera to record what we see and where we go.
Tuesday 3rd Septenber.
Not a great weather forecast for ntoday, so we went out mid morning hoping to miss the heavy rain forecast for early afternoon. We headed for Priors (Box) Wood. We were out for around an hour and met some very cheeky Squirrels who walked up the path about 10 feet in front of Spruce before jumping up a tree for safety. A posse of Ramblers were next, around 15 of them, and finally a man with a German Shepherd, an 8 year old rescue dog called Lucy.
Wednesday 4th September
A brief outing in the morning without the camera was followed by a longer walk around 4pm in the afternoon. We went through the local woods into the farmers fallow fields. Being end of Summer verging on Autumn there were a mix of flowers, berries and decaying plants. The start of Autumn can be seen in the colours below. The last shot taking in my garden is of the last moments of a bee, It had clung to the pollen, and slowly stopped moving.
Thursday and Friday, 5th and 6th September
On both of these days we took our walk through Claypit Springs Wood, next to Great Ashby Park. This is a circular walk and takes between 35 and 60 minutes depending on Spruce sniffing time am me taking pictures. The weather was overcast with drizzle in the air, so a bit limiting for pictures but nice walks anyway.
