Cormarants and Boats at Fairlands Lakes

30th January, Fairlands lakes, Stevenage

A Saturday afternoon and the Sun was shining so I headed to Fairlands Lake for a walk and to see whether I can get any interesting shots of any of the birds on the lake. The light was coming from the south and for the most part there were breaks in the clouds Which made for easy photography conditions.

I took my relatively new long photo lens the XF 500 with a view of getting to understand it and practice using it as much as I could .

Not a lot going on on the lakes the only interest where the Cormarants, of which there was six fishing down the southern end of the large lake. I focused on these and got some shots while they were diving and also taking off and inflight as well. I walked up to the middle lake, and the Stevenage Model Boat Society were there with a variety of sailing boats. This made an interesting change from the cormorants.
