Cambridge Red Bus Shoot
26th January, Cambridge
This was an event organised by Campkins Cameras in Cambridge. It was originally billed as a Red Bus Tour visiting areas of the city centre and giving a unique perspective from the height of the bus. However, reality was different. They had planned a four stop tour where the Bus visited a location, everybody got off, got the tripods out and took photos potentially with the Bus in the shot as a prop.
The plan agenda was to stop at the Fitz William museum and take images around the area. This happened and the planned 15 minutes turned into approximately 35 minutes. The second location was planned as the Cambridge Railway Station, again this turned into a 35 possibly 40 minute stop again. I took some interesting shots here including the very low angle one from a puddle looking back at the bus. From here the next stop was the American war cemetery on the outskirts of Cambridge, where apparently a lot of paperwork had been completed to give us access. On arrival this did not materialise. It was dark no lights no access, a waste of time. The only shot below taken here was of the lights leading through the woods which in reality was total darkness at the time. The next stop was planned to be one of the bridges going into Cambridge with the river and the punting station and the waterside lights. However, by now we’ve been out two hours and the time was up, so the bus headed back to Campkins.
It was an interesting and different evening, and the charge was only £25. However, it could’ve been a lot better with a little more thorough planning and a tighter execution on the evening.
