Aldeburgh and Sizewell

17th January, Suffolk

I had travelled to Suffolk to do a days photography shooting a new line of equestrian clothing for a company called Funky Fit. This was to support their new product launches and provide imagery for their website and social media content. This finished mid afternoon. As it had been a three hour journey to get there and I’ve had anticipated the same return journey I had chosen to stay overnight in the White Lion Hotel on Aldebough seafront.

The hotel location was outstanding facing out onto the beach and out to ses. Close to the town centre and an area of the beach with seafood shacks and fishing boats. I went for a walk for an hour around sunset to look for images in the beach area. Where the Sun was setting it was very cloudy and only occasional light came through however there were one or two moments where there was some nice pastel shades in the sky.

The next morning I travelled up to Sizewell Beach. The beach and the sand dunes are in the shadow of the nuclear power station. Out to sea a couple of brutal looking constructions that are where the coolant water inlet for the reactors are based. I had seen these featured in many photographs. Usually with a nice sunrise, very flat sea, or some interesting clouds. This morning there were none of those so I looked for some interesting compositions to include these out to see features with Shoreline full ground such as the boats and the fishing equipment. It was again a freezing cold boarding. I spent about 45 minutes looking for some images and then retreated to the warmth of the car and the long journey home.
