ZSL Whipsnade

November 12th, Stevenage

This turned out to be a short visit to Whipsnade. Arriving at 11am in good light, by 2pm it had clouded over and the wind had increased, so many of the animals were inside or at least trying to find shelter from the north wind. I had set out to visit the Butterfly House and the new Monkey World area. Butterflies ticked off, I headed for the “View Cafe” for a Coffee. This is on the edge of the Downs with great views looking North. I spent some time with the European Lynx and then the Elephants but with failing light I left early around 2:30pm, My two favourite images below is the first Butterfly and the Lynx. With the Butterflies it is hard to get a simple image where the background is not cluttered and confused, and the Lynx is rarely around this time of day, its usually asleep in its den.
