New Forest Ponies
Date: August 5th, 2024
I was heading for Poole Harbour to go out on the “Big Five” cruise Tuesday morning. I had arranged to stay locally in Poole Monday evening, so stopped off in the New Forest in the afternoon to get some shots of the Ponies. It's hard to miss them, as soon as you are off the major roads and cross the cattle grids, then there they are. Its not really possible stop stop on the roadside, but the Forestry Commission provide plenty of small car parks, and its a very short walk to the nearest Pony.
They are use to humans, but I still didn’t approach them closely, but waited and let them approach me. It was mid afternoon, the light was bright and harsh so no atmospheric shots were planned. I decided to go for Portrait type shots getting low down to the ground giving the pictures some impact.
All images shot on my Fujifilm XH2s and the 16-55mm lens.
